Individual Support

Support that sees you, celebrates you
and affirms you

Our unique neurodiverse individuals develop skills at different rates and times in life and sometimes this development curve is challenging.
Our 1:1 targeted and personalised support plans may be exactly what your child and family needs.

At Social Living Solutions, we create individually developed, fully personalised support programs tailored to your or your child’s unique needs and goals.

These support plans can include a flexible mix of:

  • Social and emotional skill-building
  • Life skills and daily routines
  • Community access and participation
  • Independent living skills
  • Exploring and preparing for employment

Every plan is thoughtfully designed to reflect your circumstances, strengths, and priorities. In addition to crafting a support package that truly fits, we also take great care in matching you with the right support worker – someone who understands, connects, and brings out the best in you or your child.

Because the right match can make all the difference.

Calm, Care and Guidance

Today I got a call while I was at work – my child had decided to make apple crumble from scratch since I didn’t get to make it the night before. I honestly didn’t think it would happen, but they followed a tutorial, called me with questions, and… voila! They made it themselves.”

Caprice has been an extraordinary support to both my son and our family. From the beginning, she showed deep understanding, warmth, and genuine kindness, helping my son feel safe, seen, and supported in ways that few others have.

He trusts her completely, which is no small thing. Whether it’s appointments, social situations, or tough emotional moments, Caprice brings calm, care, and steady guidance. She’s not just a support worker – she’s become a trusted part of our lives, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have her.

Building Social Skills

Neurodiversity at any age can make it difficult to function socially
in a world built by and for a neurotypical brain.

When we focus on social skills we support and coach your child to better understand and cope with the social nuances and typical pressures and expectations of our current societal “norms”.

Core skills we focus on developing can include:

Reflective Listening

The keys to being a good listener, not interrupting when others are talking, and appearing interested (even when you are not!)

Emotion Control and Regulation

We work on strategies for temper control and context appropriate expression of emotions.

Tact & Understanding

Exploring the nuances of this concept in the neurotypical world.

Literal Thinking

Understanding what literal thinking is, examining unhelpful thinking, and working towards being more flexible and aware in how your thinking affects you

Flexible Thinking

Why being a flexible thinker is so important for good social interactions, and how to develop useful skills for interacting with peers, teachers, coaches and others at school and in social settings

Our Social Skills Goal is to empower your child with new skills to help successfully navigate
social situations and everyday life without stress or anxiety.

Developing Life Skills

Help your child gain confidence in how to engage in day-to-day life,
and the challenges it delivers.

Core skills we focus on developing can include:

Managing a Budget

Understanding financial transactions as well as creating and managing a budget

Food / Meal Planning

The importance of meal planning to ensure healthy eating habits and understanding how to budget for food

Good Hygience

Why good personal hygiene is so important, including cleanliness and food preparation

Managing Transport

The importance of arriving on time for appointments and social meetings as well as how to read public transport timetables and understand the concept of time

Interacting with People

Purchasing items in a shop, going to the movies, going to restaurants, and being able to order food for yourself and others. Interacting effectively with others in your immediate community

Manage Executive Functioning and Daily Tasks

Alison has become an invaluable part of my life. She supports me with meal planning and meal preparation, which helps me manage my executive functioning challenges and get through daily tasks. Alison supports me in different ways — sometimes she does things for me, and sometimes she body doubles alongside me. I’m truly grateful for all that Alison does and would highly recommend her to anyone needing similar support.
